Hello and Welcome to the Electronics & Repair Forum

Edit : I had to complete a quick survey to get the guide and so the PDF appeared + the fz files (boardview files listing all the components on the motherboard's pcb), all the others sources I found online were asking for $$, just download the guide correct after the survey and you're good to get.

Yous tin can start by checking the charging connector soldered on the board you should read around 19v, and so bank check the 2 entry mosfets most this connector, look for a short circuit past doing a continuity test with a multimeter.

Hi, I go 3v on the first pin of the bios scrap, and 0v on the pivot 8 is that normal?
According to the schematics diagram in the manual and datasheets, I should have 1.8v there, right?
How to check the processor? Is my Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3 Rev. 1.0 completely dead?
My 3v 5v regulator seems fine though since I tested the voltages and footing. emoji scratching head

Don't leap into the repair volume and chip level correct abroad. Depending on the trouble it won't be the same approach. Does your laptop have whatever issue with the disply, or the ability? Beginning with the nuts by measuring the voltage at all the measuring points showed in the repair guide, and come back with all the measures and so we can help y'all fix your Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3 Rev. 1.0.

It's important to keep step past step instead of quickly replace parts like RAM or graphics chip or even the processor, first thing first check if your charger is working. As simple equally that. Too check your battery.

Then y'all will go on and check the circuitry : coils, mosfets, capacitors, inductors, etc.

If you are a total beginner in electronics better take your figurer to a repair shop to avert causing more harm to it, even if it costs you a petty fleck. They tin can solder and desolder parts very quickly without taking any hazard for the rest of the components.
They can as well but cheque your Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3 Rev. 1.0 and tell you what part is causing the problem, so it will be up to you to replace information technology if you prefer doing information technology yourself (a piece of advice when soldering, always use flux or rosin).

Here are the top 5 things I always do to troubleshoot your faulty MB:

  • Check the charging connector. Most of the trouble comes from here. Examination information technology with a multimeter to see if you get the +Vin (DC +19.5v) at its pins.
  • Locate all the coils on the board and check them for continuity to the footing. (multimeter in diode manner). These components are the power supplies of each office of the board, if one ability rail is downward and then it tin can forbid the laptop from working.
  • Check all the mosfets on the pcb. At that place are effectually a dozen, a lot of computers breakdowns come from a short circuit in a transistor. Generally the 2 primary ones afterwards the charging port, they are very encline to shorts due to their constant solicitations.
  • Use isopropyl booze to locate overheating components. Rut makes information technology evaporate quicker when put on shorted parts that are very hot.
  • Finally use a voltmeter to check the voltage on components present on the 3v/5v rail, if y'all don't get the right voltage there so the problem is probably due to the voltage regulating chip, or a failure from a capacitor.
